Story of an hour

The first thought that comes to mind is IRONY! Kate Chaplin's "Story of an hour" has the ability within the first few sentences make you feel sorry for the freshly widowed woman, filled with unimaginable pain but by the second paragraph when she reveals the joy from being set free from a loveless marriage and feeling of imprisonment I felt happy for her freedom. I completely understand the feeling of finally being free from the shackles of the responsibility to someone other than yourself or your child.

The irony for me is the excitement, the dream, the freedom all swept away in the blink of an eye when Mallard returned unharmed causing her to be free in a different form than she wanted or desired to be freed by death.

  3. Often times in life we think someone

is happy because they are married and have money and all seems well in the world, and we

believe that they are living the dream and we wish we had what they had by way of happiness.

But behind closed doors things are anything but and our lives are way happier than we think it is

compared to others. You mentioned the IRONY and I am taken back to the Oprah interview

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, here we see the ultimate fairytale in modern day, yet behind

closed door the Princess is locked away in a castle with no passport or freedom and

contemplating suicide. A far cry from what the world saw when we all witnessed the televised

wedding. Things aren't always as they seem but exactly as they are.
